One of my main frustrations with being a comedian near-constantly on the move, was that I never found time to have a tactile hobby like most people have. So when I orchestrated my malevolent plan to withdraw from the comedy travelling community, setting time aside for something non-career related was essential. I was always arty at school, but would fall into the trap of steamrolling through work and ruining it. My biggest difficulty was pacing, affording stuff the time it needed to be done. Every Airfix model I ever made was a mess of congealed glue and slapped on paint, every pencil drawing a collage of smudges and corner tears. Decent analogy for the career I was swallowed by, often moving too quick to concentrate on the minutiae. So with that being put in order, it seemed a good time to rekindle my occasionally sordid affair with art and model building.
